Join us for an  SWCA webinar about

“Data Storytelling (or How to Tutor Graphs)"

Monday, April 22nd, 2024 2:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) via Zoom

Presented by

Dr. Brandy Blake has been a communication tutor, a writing center director, a professor, and a STEM communication director. She has worked in Georgia Tech's H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering for a total of six years, helping students to improve engineering and technical reports and spends a lot of time working with those students on improving graphs and other data visualizations.

When a student shows up with a graph in their paper or presentation, it's easy to tell when there is something problematic about the graph. Articulating what that is, however, might be harder, and giving firm advice on a graph is often outside of a tutor's comfort zone. This webinar would provide tutors that are nervous about giving feedback on graphs with some tips and strategies, including how to focus on the purpose of the graph, how to emphasize and de-emphasize information, and how to declutter.

FREE for all SWCA members and a small fee for other parties (donations also welcome)
